Kameoth of the Planets Ancient and Modern
Each Kamea, or magic square, has four significant numbers listed beneath it. Firstly, the dimension of the square, which indicates the raw essence of that planetary energy; secondly, the sum of highest and lowest values, which reveals the guiding principles. Often these principles are expressed in terms of seemingly opposed ideas, so with the example of Saturn we find images of both treading under foot and blossoming; these are resolved in the image of a patient gardener who presses down the earth around his planting, who weeds the bad from the good, who prunes the tree to see it bear more heavily. In most squares this value is also the sum of any two numbers the same distance from the centre of the square, in opposite directions.
The third value is the column sum, which is also the row sum, and the sum of either diagonal. The fourth value is the sum total of all numbers in the square.
Certain Intelligences, Spirits and other entities are associated with these squares, and in most cases their names sum to one of these values; in one instance (that of Hagiel, Intelligence of Venus) the name's value is not 50 but 49, which of course is the number of cells in the square.
Saturn, ruler of limitations, has as his colours the limits of light: the black of midnight and the white of the noonday sun;
the dark earth and the life that it brings forth. אב
sustainer has the value 3; it also means
With a value of 10 we find אזב
to tread down, destroy and זאב
sorcery and its reverse טא
to bind, cut off and גבה
15 איד calamity; בוז trample, deride; גאוה haughtiness, majesty; דוה sickly, wretched; חבה to hide; חוא to breathe or speak; יגב to plough, cut up;
strong, ידא to confess. 45: אדמ man, mankind, red, to be struck dumb; לוט to conceal.
15 Jah יה — a name of God

glory, majesty, beauty, brightness
15 the Devil card in Tarot, which represents illusory limitations and fears.
45 Tetragrammaton extended: יוד הא ואו הא
45 The Intelligence of Saturn Agiel אגיאל
Gathering/binding power of God
45 The Spirit of Saturn Zazel זאזל
Jupiter is the wellspring of abundance. To the measure of 17 we have זהה
to shine and its partner הזה
to dream; גוח
to burst forth and its partner חוג
to mark out a circle, vault or arch (as with a compass);
well-being, prosperity, fertility, luck; חדה rejoice;
to lay (a foundation). 34: אגל
to well forth and
to reveal; דכי
to dash to pieces as in the breakers; כוח
strength. 136 אמצה
strength; נופ (without final)
to raise up or
to fling water; סוע
to shoot forth.
4 Aba אבא
34 El Ab אל אב
136 The Intelligence of Jupiter Jophiel יהפיאל
Beauty of God
136 The Spirit of Jupiter Hismael הסמאל
26: חטט to cut; כבד to be heavy, severe, violent, glorious, honourable, difficult.
26 is the Tetragrammaton; also the sum of the Sephiroth (not including Da"ath) on the middle pillar.
The numbers 26, 65 and 325 suggest a close relationship with Pluto, through their common factor 13.
65 (a number shared with Mercury): Adonai אדני
hush; היכל palace, temple, heaven; ינה to be violent, oppressive; נהי lamentation; הלל to be bright, shining, brash, a paean; מכה a striking, a blow, a wound; נוט to quake (of the earth); דומיה silence, ease, rest, devotion.
325 The Intelligence of Mars Graphiel גראפיאל
Sweeping-away power of God
325 The Spirit of Mars Bartzabel ברצבאל
37 Yechida יחידה: the highest life; כבודה splendid; לבה to burn, to roar, heart; להב to burn, a flame, a blade; הבל to breathe; גדל greatness; גלד to cover; דגל to flutter or float (as a banner); דלג to leap or spring. 111 אפל to set (as of the sun); 666 סתור
Height, Heights; ינום
37 is one third of 111; it is also the sum of the Sephiroth (including Da"ath) on the middle pillar. 111 is the value of Ain Suph Aur. Intriguingly, 6, 66 and 666 and are all so-called 'triangular numbers': sums of all the integers from 1 to 3, 1 to 11 and 1 to 36 respectively; 36 itself is a triangle number, the sum of the numbers from 1 to 8.
111 The Intelligence of the Sun Nakiel נכיאל
Smiting power of God
666 The Spirit of the Sun Sorath סורת
666 Hatkariel התכריאל
Note: I have found no connection between the number 666 and the sinister attributions often imagined for the
number of the beast in the Book of Revelation. Early manuscripts of that book indicate the Beast's number was 616, not 666, which would be more appropriate: 616 is הוהם
He will ruin them, יום
the fated day, day of calamity and מעוך
Oppressed. 666, on the other hand, has no such connotations.
Venus is the spouse of Mars; in her his colours are reversed, lightened and softened to emerald green and pink.
7: אבד to be severed, forsaken, to stray in solitude; אדב to cause to pine; או desire; דאב to flow away, languish; דבא to flow, affluence, fullness. 50: אדמה earth, soil, country, whole earth, to flow, to compare, to remember; כל all. 175 עננה enchantress; מליצה a tease, an enigma, something indistinct.
49 The Intelligence of Venus Hagiel הגיאל
Murmuring of God, with senses of the murmuring of doves, lamenting or sighing, the purring of a lion over his prey and the muttering of enchanters.
175 The Spirit of Venus Qedemel קדמאל
Before [in front of] God
1225 The Intelligences of Venus Tzabaoth Hamula Elohim צבאות המלה אלהים
Tumultuous Hosts of the Gods (
tumult with the sense of heavy falling rain).
This corrects the usual mis-naming of the Intelligences as Beni Seraphim
Sons of the Burning Ones, a phrase which adds up to 1252, not 1225, and connotes fiery, not watery forces!
8: אבה to breathe with vitality, longing, willingness; אהב to breathe with love, delight; באה
enter!. 65 is of course the column sum of the Mars square, with the same attributions. 260 כמר to glow, burn, be scorched, to weave or pleat, a priest; כרמ to glow, to dig, cultivate; מכר to trade or barter; מרכ softness, timidity or fear; ניר a light, to break up or till, fallow ground, seed or offspring.
8 Azbogah אזבוגה AZ(8)BU(8)GH(8)
260 The Intelligence of Mercury Tiriel טיריאל
2080 The Spirit of Mercury Taphthartharath תפתרתרת
Timbrel of the trembling turtledove.
אוב with the value 9 means
to be hollow, and also signifies a water-skin,
leather bottle or
hollow belly — from which the voice of a conjured spirit emanates as though from the very earth itself.
Its reverse, בוא, means
to enter. We find these ideas repeated and more directly
tied to the moon in words with the value 82: נבל
to droop, fade, flow out
also signifies a leather bottle or a pitcher; the reverse of this word,
to make bricks. Bricks are of course Lavanah
(לבנה) a word which also means
369 The Spirit of the Moon Chasmodai חשמודאי
3321 The Spirit of the Spirits of the Moon Schedbarschemoth Schartathan שדברשהמעת שרתתן
A spoil of gems thou wilt give, O Prince.
3321 The Intelligency of the Intelligence of the Moon Malka betharsithim hed beruah schehakim מלכא בתרשיתים עד ברוח שחקים
The king with garments rent open by the blessed mockers (See Matthew 27:27-9 for one parallel. More generically, this suggests a parting of the veils).
This square of 10 by 10 is clearly the square of Earth, the tenth Qabalistic sphere. That the Hebrew מלוכה
kingdom has a value of 101 underlines this fact.
101: אסם to put by, storehouses, granaries; זבולונ Zebulon
Yah Establishes; יצא to come forth, be begotten,
to rise (as the sun), to come to an end; מיכאל Mikael
Who Like God? and his brother
505: שרה Sarah
Beyond this point the kameoth are trans-personal, dealing with energies outside the normal business of an individual. Indeed, beyond this point the individual cannot go, and still remain him- or herself. Remember: humanity, like all other living things, owes its allegiance to the forces of ongoing creation, not to the blind forces of dissolution and decay.
11 is popularly attributed to Da"ath, the great abyss beyond which individual existence ends, but it is more especially the number of the Qlippoth, the broken shells of creation where the raw waste of reality is destroyed and recycled. The cosmic compost heap is not normally a place for humanity to step into, yet it serves its purpose. Numerically, 11 is the pit, slaughter, excrement, the howl of horror and the buzzing fly, but it is also birth, the gleam of gold and that which is good. The shells of the Qlippoth find their echo in בצל,
to be shedding peelings (like an onion), with the value 122.
This Kamea, it turns out, is more closely associated with Da"ath, as the 'great silence'. 12 is the measure of אבדה, the Abyss,
and of בהה
to be silent, still, empty. The gematria of 145 casts further light on this. If we ignore the final nun, הצנ
chariot also measures 145. The chariot appears in both Hebrew mysticism and in the Tarot as a vehicle beyond the bounds of self.
Water; דחא to
pound (a crude euphemism for
masturbate); הבו love excessively; יבא to enter, penetrate, copulate; הגה murmur, sigh, meditation, separation. 170: Na"amah נעמי
Pleasant (a succubus in the Zohar, and mother of divination); מלק to snap or wring (a neck); סלפ to twist or turn, to pervert (ignoring the final). These words confirm the sudden, violent nature of Pluto's energy, and the sex/death associations of the number 13.
Pluto has numeric links to several other planets. 170=5×34 (Mars, Jupiter); 1105=65×17 (Mars, Mercury, Jupiter); and again, 14365=65×17×13. That the plutonian 13 is a factor of the martian numbers 26, 65 and 325 confirms the close relationship between these two planets. Pluto also has a close relationship with the first planet of the series, Saturn: the numeric keys 13 · 170 · 1105 · 14365 are those of the Saturn kamea with extra digits interspersed: 1, 7, 10 and 136 (numbers relating to Venus, Saturn and Jupiter respectively).
